Aquatic ecosystems and species are under intense anthropogenic threats. These threats directly affect services such as sustainable fisheries, drinking water or ecosystem resilience. To adequately respond to these 21st century challenges and conserve these goods and services, a fundamental understanding of the biodiversity and ecosystem processes is needed, as without knowledge there can be no application or effective management. This programme balances ecological theory, conservation biology and evolutionary biology with practical application. You will take four taught modules, which will be assessed through a mixture of reports, essays, practicals, presentations and multiple choice questions.

Students should normally have achieved: four-year bachelors degree from 211 or 985 University with 75%+ average or four-year bachelors degree from non-211 University within top 300 with average 80%+. All applications are considered on an individual basis and students may be admitted to masters programmes with a lower level degree if they have work experience relevant to the degree applied for.
