This is the only undergraduate course in Scotland that combines Fine Art with Philosophy, two subject areas in which we excel. The course provides a strong foundation to enable you to develop a successful career across the spectrum of creative industries. Our graduates have gone on to exhibit in major international arts venues, curate groundbreaking exhibitions, and undertake significant academic research at some of the top universities in the world. This course widens the choice of future pathways for artists and theorists. Modules in Fine Art are assessed through the production of a substantial body of resolved and supporting work that demonstrates an understanding of the relationship between research, creative development and informed making. Modules in Philosophy are assessed through coursework essays, tutorial performance, exams and dissertations. This course provides an expanded range of career opportunities because it combines visual and textual thinking from the outset. These include: Artist; Arts administration; Curating and cultural policy making; Publishing; Writing and journalism; Criticism; Research; and Teaching.
