Our BSc Biochemistry course will give you a grounding in a subject that forms the basis of virtually all of the biological sciences.Many exciting discoveries made in this area have contributed to our understanding of life, the solving of medical problems, and to the discovery and production of safe and effective drugs.You will learn about topics such as the structure of biomolecules, and how they interact in essential processes and pathways in our cells.You will also study the actions of enzymes, and how they can be inhibited by drugs, as well as genetic engineering and molecular biology.**Excellent career prospects** 90% of our graduates go into work or further study within six months of achieving their BSc.**A range of study options** You can extend your degree by a year to undertake an integrated master's , gain industrial/professional experience or learn a modern language . **Foundation year available** You can prepare for the full degree course if you do not have the appropriate qualifications for direct entry by undertaking our foundation course first. **Flexibility to transfer between courses** You can transfer between most of our biological sciences degree courses at the end of your first year or, in some cases, later.
