This course will help you develop a sophisticated understanding of the neuro-scientific basis of psychiatry and expertise in critical appraisal and research design. You will learn how to translate research into clinical practice and develop interdisciplinary clinical and research professional networks.
It is ideal for trainee or current psychiatrists who wish to upgrade their knowledge or skills.
The course is run by the University of Sydney's Brain and Mind Centre, an industry leader in the investigation and treatment of diseases of the brain and mind. Facilitated by experts, sessions will be presented in small groups and supported by online learning technology.

To apply for a PhD, you need to demonstrate sufficient prior research experience and capability. In most cases, you will have either: a bachelor's degree with first or upper second class honours or a master's degree performed at a high academic standard, and which includes a substantial component of research; an equivalent qualification that demonstrates research experience, excellence and capability. English Language Requirements: TOEFL - IBT score: A minimum result of 85 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing; IELTS score: A minimum result of 6.5 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band; TOEFL - PBT score: A minimum result of 565 overall including a minimum result of 4.5 in Writing.

Admission to the Graduate Certificate in Medicine (Psychiatry) requires:
a medical degree from the University of Sydney or an equivalent qualification; and
employment in an accredited psychiatry training position or equivalent experience.
TOEFL - IBT score: A minimum result of 96 overall including a minimum result of 20 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 22 in Writing.
IELTS score: A minimum result of 7.0 overall and a minimum result of 6.5 in each band
TOEFL - PBT score: A minimum result of 592 overall including a minimum result of 5.0 in Writing
