In this course student will undertake original research under the supervision of one or more academic staff. You will be required to undertake research training offered by the School of Languages, Cultures and Societies and the University. You will write a thesis (PhD thesis length 300 pages or 100,000 words/MPhil thesis length 200 pages or 60,000 words/MA R thesis length 100 pages or 30,000 words) which is examined by viva at the end of your period of study. When completing the online application please select Languages, Cultures and Societies as the programme for all subject areas offered by the School. Individual subjects are not listed.

For Postgraduate qualification, students need to have 4 year Bachelor degrees or 1-2 year Masters: for courses requiring 2.1, students should have percentage of 75% (Prestigious), 80% (Non Prestigious), 85% (Independent college), for courses requiring 2.2 needs to have percentage of 70% (Prestigious), 75% (Non Prestigious), 80% (Independent college). The entry requirements are usually referred in terms of standard British qualifications (good honors degree). However, applications from students with equivalent qualifications are also accepted.

Student need English language requirement that is IELTS 6.5 overall with not less than 6.0 in any component or TOEFL (iBT) 92 with not less than 21 in Listening, 22 in Writing, 21 in Reading and 23 in Speaking.
