Ecological Economics focuses on how to make sustainability and environmental management work in practice by applying economic principles. This programme is run in collaboration with Scotland's Rural College (SRUC). Graduates with postgraduate training in this area are in greater demand than ever before in business, industry and government. This programme is affiliated with the University's Global Environment and Society Academy. Our graduates are working in a variety of sectors, including environmental consultancies; international and governmental agencies; NGOs; financial institutions; multinationals; environmental education and research.

Students should have a good first degree from a recognised institution, with minimum grades of between 80-85%. This is the University’s general minimum requirement but some programmes may have specific qualification requirements as well. Entry requirements vary from course to course and in cases there is also variation in the standards required for entry to certain courses. Courses in great demand are likely to require higher entry grades.
