Expand your musical technique and understanding within your choice of classical or jazz performance, composition, popular music or musicology at New Zealand’s largest tertiary music school. In the BMus you’ll learn to both preserve the past and nurture progress as you focus on your chosen discipline and prepare to enter a changing music industry. You’ll learn from some of the finest instrument teachers in the country, as well as recognised music historians and composers. Our partnerships with industry organisations will give you contact with leading local and international musicians. Through your involvement in our many small and large ensembles, tutorials and studio classes, you’ll develop strong collaborative skills and grow your confidence. You can study music alongside another discipline as part of a conjoint degree in Arts, Commerce, Engineering, Law or Science. Programme structure While each major differs slightly, in your first year you will develop core skills in your discipline, such as musicianship, music analysis, theory, music industry studies and composition. General Education courses will give you the chance to supplement your studies with a topic of your choice. In second year and beyond, you continue to develop within your specialisation and you can explore areas of personal interest in complementary fields such as sonic arts, music education, production, and history. 入学要求

为来自中国的学生设计 Applicants must have an appropriate undergraduate degree with a minimum average grade of ‘B’ or higher in the final-year prerequisite courses at a recognised institution. Consult faculty guidelines for the grades required. Other English Language Requirements accepted: overall score of 575 plus Essay (TWE) of 4.5 in Paper-based TOEFL; CAE score of 58 or higher, no individual language skill below borderline; CPE score of 45 or higher; PTE overall score of 65 and no PTE communicative skills score below 58; score of 85 in Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB). 国际学生入学条件 Secondary school qualifications You need to have one of the following: International Baccalaureate Diploma with a minimum total score of 24. General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level. You must have completed a minimum of three A-Level subjects with at least a 'C' grade or higher. General Studies or similar general papers cannot be included. GCE ‘A’ Level requirements apply to ‘A’ Level qualifications examined by bodies such as AQA, OCR, Edexcel, WJEC, CCEA, Pearson Education Limited and CIE taken outside of New Zealand. IELTS (Academic): Overall score of 6.0 and no bands below 5.5; Internet-based TOEFL (iBT): Overall score of 80 and a written score of 21; Paper-based TOEFL: Overall score of 550 and an Essay (TWE) of 4.5; Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE): Overall score of 169 and no bands below 162; Foundation Certificate in English for Academic Purposes (FCertEAP): Grade of C-; Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: Overall score of 50 and no PTE Communicative score below 42; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB): 80.
