A masters degree for professionals who do not have an undergraduate law degree but whose work involves, or who have a personal interest in, legal issues and dealing with legislation. Programme overview Suited to professionals from non-legal backgrounds who require some knowledge of legal matters. Professionals who will particularly benefit include accountants and auditors, architects and town planners, business development managers, compliance managers, engineers, IT professionals, police and public sector staff. This programme has a similar structure to the Master of Laws and offers six specialisations: Corporate and Commercial Law, Environmental Law, Human Rights Law, International Law, Litigation and Dispute Resolution, and Public Law. The MLS allows cross-disciplinary study of postgraduate courses from other University of Auckland faculties, enabling you to advance your professional skills while acquiring knowledge of the law. The 120-point MLS option is available to professionals with a four-year degree. The 180-point MLS option is available to professionals with a three-year degree. Programme structure The 120-point research masters pathway needs to be completed in two full-time semesters (1 year) or 4 part-time (2 years). For a taught masters it needs to be completed in two full-time semesters (1 year) or eight part-time (4 years). The 180-point research masters pathway needs to be completed in three full-time semesters (1.5 years) or six semesters part-time (3 years). For a taught masters it needs to be completed in three semesters full-time (1.5 years) or 12 part-time (6 years). Both programmes also provides skills in legal research methodology for those without advanced skills in this area. As the MLS is tailored to professionals from non-legal backgrounds who require some knowledge of legal matters, but who do not necessarily want to practise law, there is a wide range of professionals who will benefit. Please note that completion of this degree will not satisfy the entry requirements for admission as a barrister and solicitor in New Zealand and is not a substitute for an LLB degree. 为来自中国的学生设计 Applicants must hold a satisfactory level of competence in the subject area attested from a recognised institution, or an equivalent qualification. Other English Language Requirements accepted: overall score of 575 plus Essay (TWE) of 4.5 in Paper-based TOEFL; CAE score of 58 or higher, no individual language skill below borderline; CPE score of 45 or higher; PTE overall score of 65 and no PTE communicative skills score below 58; score of 85 in Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB). 国际学生入学条件 Taught 120 points: You must have completed a four-year undergraduate degree or an undergraduate degree followed by an additional year of postgraduate study. IELTS (Academic): Overall score of 7.0; Internet-based TOEFL (iBT): Overall score of 100; Paper-based TOEFL: Overall score of 600; Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE): Overall score of 185; Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: Overall score of 65; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB): 90.
