Deepen your understanding of the critical role health research plays in advancing health services by studying research methods, reviewing scientific literature, and writing a thesis in your honours year. The Bachelor of Health Sciences (Honours) is a one-year program where you'll learn how to plan and write a thesis that addresses a specific research question or a health-related topic. Push the boundaries of the discipline and develop your independence, self-reliance and skills in critical and analytical thinking, research, writing and problem-solving. Complete coursework that will help you develop your thesis. Coursework will teach you how to identify, analyse and synthesise relevant scientific literature, along with the variety of research methods used in health research. Graduate with a respected honours qualification, with developed knowledge and skills that will set you apart in the jobs market, prove your leadership material, and provide a pathway to future research or learning. Career outcomes Whether you undertake an honours year to extend your undergraduate education, or to begin a career in research, our graduates have a distinct advantage when applying for professional roles. Graduates can use their qualifications to distinguish themselves in the jobs market, or as a stepping stone to careers in research, whether in industry or academia. Students who earn Class I or Class IIA Honours also qualify for most PhD programs across Australia and some internationally, including programs in the United Kingdom and the United States. Our honours graduates have also found employment at high-levels, both in Australia and internationally, in fields including: Public health Health promotion Community health Health services Hospital health information Community nutrition Research Other graduates choose to further their research ambitions and enrol in a Master of Philosophy or PhD program, where they continue developing their skills and make significant contributions to knowledge. Program structure The courses offered in the Bachelor of Health Sciences (Honours) are set out in the course list. Each course is allocated a certain number of units (#). Academic minimum entry requirements for international applicants vary from country to country. For more details, please visit university site.
