The Bachelor of Business in Tourism and Hospitality Management at Southern Cross University prepares students for a career in tourism and hospitality, providing a thorough understanding of tourism and hospitality management underpinned by core business skills. This course combines a rigorous and contemporary curriculum with practical industry-based experience and the opportunity to develop professional networks. Students will graduate with the skills and knowledge sought after in the tourism and hospitality industries. A compulsory internship is a key feature of this course and counts as four compulsory units of the degree. During this internship, students establish valuable industry experience, confidence and networks. There are two pathways within this course. Students can either study elective units from a broad range of industry-specific topics (such as international destination management, cruise tourism, coastal and marine tourism, food and beverage management, conference and event management, gaming management and sport tourism), or select one of the three majors. This course offers an optional international exchange program for second-year students to study overseas. Major areas of study Students complete 16 core units and select one of the following majors: Event Management Hospitality Management Tourism Management. Assessment methods Students are assessed in each unit on the basis of written and/or oral assignments. These may include researched essays, reports, presentations, case studies, portfolios, online discussions, tests and exams, as well as interactive assessments such as blogs, wikis, online discussion boards and multi-media presentations. Students may also be asked to participate in group work as well as individual assignments. The weighting of assessment marks between assignments and examinations varies. Career opportunities Professional management positions in a range of tourism and hospitality operations including hotels and resorts; clubs and gaming operations; restaurants and catering; tourism destination planning and marketing; tourism policy development; ecotourism; visitor management; tourism retail management; tourist attractions and theme parks; conference and event operations.

入学要求

为来自中国的学生设计 Other English Language Requirements accepted: TOEFL (paper based) score of 570; Pearson test of English (PTE) academic general score of 64; Cambridge English: advanced (CAE) general score of 58; Occupational English test (OET) score of Grade B or above. 国际学生入学条件 For undergraduate degrees, equivalent of Australian Year 12 qualification. Applicants must have IELTS - 6.0 with no band less than 5.5; CPE - 52; CAE - 52; TOEFL PBT - 550 min 4.5 (TWE); TOEFL iBT- 60 with no less than 17 in writing & speaking, no less than 11 in reading & listening; PTE - 50 with no communicative score less than 46; ISPLR - 3+ or better in all 4 skills; CEFR - B2.
