A Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Philosophy deals with some of the most important questions facing each of us. The program provides a detailed introduction to the Western philosophical tradition, from the Ancient World right up until the present day. Along the way, you will grapple with some of the thorniest questions in moral philosophy, learn some basic philosophical reasoning, and develop a capacity for critical thinking and clear expression. The Bachelor of Arts degree consists of 24 courses. After completing three Core Curriculum courses and one Foundation Communication course, you will be free to choose eight Philosophy courses with options including Medieval Philosophy, Modern Philosophy, Contemporary Philosophy, Natural Law, Cosmology and Political Philosophy. You then choose 12 elective courses to complete your degree. Many students choose to study a double degree with the Bachelor of Laws or Communications & Media or Education. The study of philosophy will assist you with all areas of study.
