The Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood & Care) at Notre Dame provides students with a qualification to work with children from birth to age eight in both childcare and school settings. The program includes 32 weeks of practical teaching experience. This double degree also allows you to pursue your passion for the Arts. Options include English Literature, Theatre Studies, Journalism, Politics and Philosophy. The School of Education is known for its supportive and mentoring arrangements, while students will be equipped to teach in all learning areas of the Early Years Learning Framework and the Australian Curriculum. The coursework is contemporary, interactive and focused on problem solving. In completing a double degree, students extend their program by one year (or part-time equivalent), allowing them to explore areas of interest within the arts, and enhancing their content knowledge for the classroom. By extending their program, students are given the opportunity to complete a double degree, gaining two qualifications in a much shorter time and at considerably lower cost than separate completion would allow. The Bachelor of Education program offers 32 weeks of practical experience, giving students exposure to the education and care environment throughout their five years of study. A unique feature of the degree is that a course of study is completed during the practicum. Specialist staff, in the host setting, teach this course for the University.
