Learn how to work with clay, concrete masonry and other types of building materials such as mortar on veneer and full brick constructions, partitions, arches and other structures. In this hands-on course you will work from plans and specifications; set out and lay bricks; check vertical and horizontal alignment; construct arches, fireplaces and ornamental brickwork and related structures; and operate brick-cutting machines. You will also learn how to apply basic levelling procedures; carry out measurements and calculations; handle and prepare bricklaying and blocklaying materials; and use bricklaying and blocklaying tools and equipment.
