TAFE Queensland has partnered with Australian Sports Apprenticeship Partners (ASAP) to allow you to apply the skills gained during the Diploma of Sport Development to a tennis setting. You will learn the principles of sports psychology, how to instruct personal training programs and how to manage small business operations in this practical program. Core components include applying exercise science, physical training, gym instruction and managing projects - to a tennis experience. Individuals with a knowledge/background in tennis will receive customised tuition (depending on your skill level) in the specifics of tennis, from highly respected coaches, physically participate in the sport, complete an accredited coaching course and work in a live, working tennis centre with access to players of all levels and ages. Through ASAP you will undertake the following topics to gain an understanding of the fundamentals of coaching and running a tennis centre: The game, shots and theory of tennis Game management and scoring Human physics of tennis Psychology of tennis Tennis equipment Managing a tournament Running a pro shop The non-accredited tennis component of this program will provide you with the opportunity to gain skills and knowledge to further your interest in the specifics of tennis. Unit Introduction To achieve this qualification you will need to complete 20 units: Core Competencies: 11 Elective Competencies: 9 Outcome SIS50612 Diploma of Sport Development University Pathways If you want to go on to further study at university, TAFE Queensland has a pathway option to get you there. In many cases, completing one of our diplomas will give you a full year of credit towards a degree with one of our partner universities. That means cutting down the amount of time you need to complete your degree, or even enrolling straight into the second year of your university course.
