The construction industry has always required efficient technical and financial project administrators, and this need is even greater in today's financial climate. Projects must run efficiently on all fronts, and managers must be able to plan, execute and supervise jobs with professional skill in areas where each new technological advance creates a need for new techniques, methods and equipment. The main aim of this program is to prepare graduates for future roles in managing people, equipment, materials, technological processes and funds in the construction, building and maintenance of buildings and assets in the civil infrastructure. This aim is facilitated by the study of advanced management and engineering techniques in the fields of construction, building and maintenance. Career opportunities These programs will provide graduates with an opportunity to gain advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of construction and infrastructure management principles, procurement and cost analysis. The programs will also assist in up-skilling local and international graduates in state-of-the-art Australian professional engineering. Graduates can follow careers as a construction manager, project engineer/manager, civil engineer or asset management engineer in a range of industries including consulting engineering, construction, research organisations, private sector, local and other government authorities. Aims and objectives At the completion of the Graduate Certificate in Construction Management course, students will be able to: 1. demonstrate specialised knowledge and skills in Construction Management practice related to design, construction, operation and maintenance of buildings and civil infrastructure 2. identify, analyse, review and describe issues, changes, risks and trends in Construction Management practice and thereby provide systematic and rational solutions to complex problems using critical thinking, team-working and/ or independent judgement 3. describe and/ or develop contemporary and sustainable Construction Management trends, best practices and management solutions in the project-based construction industry 4. demonstrate clear and coherent communication skills to articulate complex knowledge and ideas to a variety of audiences including clients, customers, multi-disciplinary/ multi-cultural project teams and stakeholders 5. demonstrate accountability, credibility, ethics, and responsibility for all personal work outputs.

为来自中国的学生设计 Other Equivalent Entry: Successful completion of the Graduate Certificate of Business Administration* or Graduate Diploma of Business Administration. Other English Language Requirements accepted: Cambridge English: Advanced Scores: 58 with no less than Borderline in each skill; TOEFL Paper Based: 550 (minimum TWE 5.0); PTE Academic: 58 with no communicative skill score less than 50; CEF (Common European Framework): B2; English for Academic Purposes (Level 5): Overall 70% (all skills 65% or above). 国际学生入学条件 The admission requirements for Graduate Certificate of Construction Management consist of: A Bachelor qualification in one of the following allied fields: Engineering (Civil/ Construction); Building; Architecture; Quantity Surveying; Construction Management; Real Estate; other cognate engineering/ technology disciplines assessed to be appropriate, or A minimum of a Diploma qualification in any of the above allied fields, plus significant, relevant industry experience* (minimum of 3 years), or A qualification deemed to be equivalent (in the opinion of the selection officer) to any of the above. Relevant industry experience: If this includes work experience, documents substantiating work experience need to be provided on company letterhead and clearly detail roles as well as duties and duration of posts held. English language requirements Satisfactory completion of one of the following: Swinburne’s English for Academic Purposes (EAP 5 Advanced level) with overall 70%, all skills 65% minimum IELTS overall band of 6.5 (Academic Module) with no individual band below 6.0 TOEFL iBT (internet-based) minimum score of 79 with a reading band no less than 18 and writing band no less than 20 Pearson (PTE) minimum score of 58 (no communicative skills less than 50) any other equivalent assessment of English language proficiency.
