Course Description In our Criminal Behaviour course, you’ll develop a broad understanding of crime and the causes, intervention and prevention of criminal behaviour from a social, psychological, biological and legal perspective. You’ll learn about the onset and maintenance of criminal behaviour and critically examine punishment as a solution to crime. You will consider the role of treatment as a response to criminal behaviour and the importance of reintegration, as well as exploring mechanisms of the prevention of antisocial behaviour. During your studies, you will learn to challenge common perceptions of crime with insights into why people commit offences, how to reduce or prevent crime, and how to help both victims and offenders involved in the criminal justice system. When you graduate, you will have the skills for a career within court and corrections facilities, police services, youth work, community groups, government departments and criminal forensics.
