The Master of Science (Research) provides an opportunity for students to acquire research skills and deepen their knowledge in an area of science. Course aims The Master of Science (Research) aims to provide professional development of the candidate, providing experience in problem definition, hypothesis formulation and testing, data acquisition, analysis and interpretation, and project presentation. Research in UTS Science is organized into university research strengths, centers and faculty research teams based within its two schools: the School of Life Sciences and School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences. These research groups conduct world-leading, focused research in area that includes biology. Some of the related subjects are: Cell Biology and Genetics This subject provides an introduction to the basic concepts of cell biology with a focus on cell structure and function, biological molecules, genetic code and theories of inheritance. The subject aims to develop students' professional skills through the introduction of a range of basic laboratory, analytical and quantitative skills used to investigate the cell structure and the functional significance of their sub-cellular organization Complex Forensic Cases (Biology) The core focus of this subject is on developing case assessment and interpretation strategies which are used in operational forensic laboratories in order to assist in determining which exhibits in a case hold the most evidential value. The subject includes working through mock cases, making decisions on what samples to take and analyses to perform, generating contemporaneous notes and case files that would be admissible in a court. Molecular Biology 2 This subject aims to provide students with an appreciation of the structure and organization of the eukaryotic genome, providing a fundamental introduction to the 'omics' technologies including genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics. The various mechanisms by which gene expression is regulated, including transcriptional, post-transcriptional and epigenetic mechanisms, as well as the roles of RNA are also covered. Knowledge of the molecular mechanisms of gene therapy for the treatment of disease as well as the use and application of microarray and next generation sequencing technologies in biology and medicine are also covered. 为来自中国的学生设计 For admission into most postgraduate courses, you are required to hold a recognized bachelor's degree equivalent to an Australian bachelor's degree. Your academic performance at the bachelor's level will be considered as part of your application assessment. In some instances, you may also require relevant work experience and/or research experience. English language requirements: IELTS (Academic) - 6.5 overall, writing 6.0; TOEFL (Internet-based) - 79-93 overall, writing 21; PTE (Academic) - 58-64; CAE - 176-184; AE5/AE6 (PASS) - AE5. 国际学生入学条件 Applicants must have completed a UTS recognised bachelor's degree, or an equivalent or higher qualification, or submitted other evidence of general and professional qualifications that demonstrates potential to pursue graduate research studies. The English proficiency requirement for international students with international qualifications is: Academic IELTS: 6.5 overall with a writing score of 6.0; or TOEFL: paper based: 550-583 overall with TWE of 4.5, internet based: 79-93 overall with a writing score of 21; or AE5: Pass; or PTE: 58-64; or CAE: 176-184.
