To be successful in business, you have to understand how each component works. The Business major combines subjects from several disciplines, and allows you to develop skills you can use in any industry. This major is flexible and ensures you can design a course plan that suits your career goals and interest It allows you to combine three or more disciplines (or study areas) from within the Commerce degree. For example, you could choose Accounting, Economics and Finance to have a holistic understanding of money and finances. During second and third year you will continue to explore the broader concepts of business and will have the opportunity to undertake studies from multiple disciplines within the faculty. Business skills are essential in all industries, and a multidisciplinary approach to problem-solving is desirable to most employers. BUSINESS AT MELBOURNE You’ll develop skills that can be applied across diverse sectors, including: Oral and written communication skills Critical analysis and synthesis Problem-solving Teamwork Multidisciplinary training Working independently and taking responsibility for your learning Study a combination of the other major disciplines in the Commerce degree from accounting, actuarial studies, finance, marketing, management and economics. What you’ll learn is dependent on the disciplines you study suited to your future career goals. Your major structure In your first and second year you will complete core subjects that are prerequisites for your major, as well as four commerce electives and three out of four breadth subjects. Your final year is comprised almost entirely of major subjects, plus the last of your elective and breadth subjects. BREADTH STUDIES Breadth is a unique feature of the Melbourne Model. It gives you the chance to explore subjects outside of commerce, developing new perspectives and learning to collaborate with others who have different strengths and interests just as you will in your future career. Some of our students use breadth to explore creative interests or topics they have always been curious about. Others used breadth to improve their career prospects by complementing their major with a language, communication skills or business expertise. Career outcomes After completing this major you might pursue career paths in marketing, banking, management consulting and professional services firms. Graduate pathways from this major GRADUATE RESEARCH Completing the Business major means you are very well placed for further study in honours and graduate research in a range of business and economics areas. Research training preparation within the honours year, a postgraduate diploma or a masters degree will be required as preparation for graduate research. GRADUATE DEGREE PATHWAYS If you wish to continue professional studies at graduate level, this major leads to a range of graduate degree pathways: Business and economics-focused graduate study in degrees including accounting, actuarial studies, applied econometrics, business administration, analytics and management, entrepreneurship, economics, finance, human resource management and management. Graduate degree pathways that will prepare you for a wide range of professions including law, teaching and health sciences Further graduate study to develop your skills outside of your discipline in areas such as humanities and government.

为来自中国的学生设计 To be eligible for entry to an undergraduate degree you must fulfill all of the following requirements: Complete the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or an equivalent Australian or overseas qualification like Australian Year 12, Trinity College Foundation Studies, GCE 'A' Levels, International Baccalaureate. English language requirements: TOEFL - Paper based test - a score of 577 or more including a score of 4.5 in the Test of Written English. Internet based test - a score of 79 and scores of: Writing: 21, Speaking: 18, Reading: 13, Listening 13. IELTS (Academic) - an overall band score of 6.5 or more in the Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS), with no bands less than 6.0. Pearson Test of English (Academic) - an overall score of between 58-64 inclusive and achieve no PTE communicative skills score below 50.
