VCA Music Theatre is an intensive skills-building program that produces industry-ready, professional performers with a strong sense of individual expression. VCA Music Theatre has a strong connection to Melbourne’s thriving music theatre profession. Students participate in daily studio-based training with working artists, and in industry master classes with international guest teachers. We take a highly personalised approach to our training, supporting your unique qualities while developing your artistic and technical capacity. The program offers extensive practical training in music theatre’s three principal disciplines – singing, acting and dancing – with specialist staff in each area. A fourth core subject explores the practice of these skills in combination for music theatre performance. Master classes and international guest teachers Melbourne is the home of music theatre in Australia and the VCA has a strong connection to the city’s thriving professional scene. Gain knowledge through studio-based training with working artists, master classes with international guest teacher. And you'll also be encouraged to develop and perform new works under the guidance of guest artists. Industry readiness Over three years you will develop a rich and variable set of approaches and practices that can be applied independently, whether in auditions or rehearsals throughout your professional career. In your third year, the focus is on preparing you to enter the industry. You will work with professional directors, musical directors and choreographers in your two final-year performance seasons. You will be given immersive specialist training in auditioning, covering dance, singing and acting calls, and undertake numerous mock auditions, featuring many accompanists you will meet and work with in the professional world. Learning Outcomes Synthesise vocal, physical and acting skills to develop a holistic music theatre performance Adapt skills and creative choices to develop performance in accord with given direction, musical direction and choreography Develop a repertoire of prepared work (songs and monologues) for audition purposes to a professional standard Have an enhanced understanding of the construction and development of works for music theatre The Foundation Program (Music Theatre) The Foundation Program is a one-year program for those music theatre students whose performance skills show potential but who have not attained the required standard in practical and/or theoretical studies for admission to the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Music Theatre). The program develops acting, singing, dance, spoken voice, movement and body conditioning/techniques under the tutelage of professional teaching artists who are experts in their field. This accredited enabling course has Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) and is only open to domestic students. Unlike other courses, studying this program will not incur HECS and will not use up any of a student’s Student Learning Entitlement. The Foundation Program is not an undergraduate degree and completion of this course does not guarantee a place in any undergraduate programs offered by the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music. Gain extensive practical training in music theatre’s principal disciplines of singing, acting and dance as individual crafts. Then learn to combine the three to create holistic music theatre performance.

为来自中国的学生设计 To be eligible for entry to an undergraduate degree you must fulfill all of the following requirements: Complete the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or an equivalent Australian or overseas qualification like Australian Year 12, Trinity College Foundation Studies, GCE 'A' Levels, International Baccalaureate. English language requirements: TOEFL - Paper based test - a score of 577 or more including a score of 4.5 in the Test of Written English. Internet based test - a score of 79 and scores of: Writing: 21, Speaking: 18, Reading: 13, Listening 13. IELTS (Academic) - an overall band score of 6.5 or more in the Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS), with no bands less than 6.0. Pearson Test of English (Academic) - an overall score of between 58-64 inclusive and achieve no PTE communicative skills score below 50.
