In this program, you'll examine the principles, techniques and regulations of the building and construction industry for all types of medium-rise and wide-span buildings up to 25 metres high. Construction is not just about building sites; it’s about building a bigger picture: the planning, coordination, and control of a project from inception to delivery. This practical program incorporates hands-on work and project-based learning. You'll experience many aspects of building projects and understand how these relate to each other. You’ll go on site excursions to gain hands-on experience in the field, which will include visits to residential projects and commercial construction projects. Graduates of the course have the option to continue further studies in construction, project management, or property services with RMIT. Career opportunities include roles in the following areas: building construction, supervision and management estimating purchasing contracts administration You may also find employment in other related fields, either on a building site or in a head office environment. Pathway options You can gain entry to the Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) from RMIT Foundation Studies or a range of vocational study programs. Further study When you successfully complete the Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) you are guaranteed entry to a range of other RMIT programs. You will receive two semesters of advanced standing (equivalent to 96 credit points) in the following programs: Bachelor of Applied Science (Project Management) (Honours) Bachelor of Applied Science (Property and Valuation) (Honours) Bachelor of Applied Science (Construction Management) (Honours) Alternatively, you may be eligible for entry to other RMIT vocational study or undergraduate programs.
