Course Description This course is an introductory design course with a focus on Fashion. You will gain skills in illustration, colour theory, technical sketches, fashion design, CAD specific for fashion practice, as well as some basic fashion industry knowledge. It is also designed to give you foundational knowledge to enable to you put together a portfolio of work for application for the Bachelor of Fashion Design or another higher level fashion qualification. Course Structure To receive the Certificate III in Design Fundamentals (Fashion Design) students must complete all core units and, if available, a range of additional units. Core Units Explore the use of Colour Source and apply design industry knowledge Explore and apply the creative design process to 2D forms Follow a design process Produce drawings to communicate ideas Explore and apply the creative design process to 3D forms Participate in OHS processes Additional Units Identify design process for fashion designs Draw and interpret a basic sketch Prepare a design concept for a simple garment Produce Creative Work Produce computer-aided drawings Career Opportunities There are limited job outcomes at this level, however there may be some employment opportunities working in Junior roles in Fashion related areas.
