This qualification is for people who want to work as an advanced stable hand in a thoroughbred racing stable caring for horses and their environment. As an advanced stable hand (sometimes referred to as stable foreman) you will be in charge of daily operations in a thoroughbred racing stable. In a thoroughbred racing stable you will care for thoroughbreds. You work to the delegated instructions of a trainer who has overall responsibility for the enterprise. There is a degree of autonomy within the delegation, for example you are permitted under the rules of racing to act for the trainer on race days and when operating as a foreman in the stable environment directs and coordinates one or more stable hands. Course Structure To receive the Certificate III in Racing (Advanced Stable hand) students must complete all core units and, if available, a range of additional units.
