Develop specialist skills in networking and systems support as you prepare for a career in the information and communications technology (ICT) industry. When you complete the Certificate IV in Information Technology (Networking), you’ll have the skills you need to install and manage small scale networks, either as an independent network support technician or as part of a team. This course is co-delivered with the Certificate IV in IT Network Support (ICT40215) at the Berwick campus or with the Certificate IV in Computer Systems (UEE40111) at the Frankston and Dandenong campuses. During the course, you’ll learn how to communicate with business clients, manage network and data integrity, manage simple projects, create technical documents, install hardware, internet protocol (IP) networks and servers, troubleshoot equipment, identify system and software faults, manage and administer operating systems, set up and secure a small office, and build a small wireless local area network (LAN). Experienced teachers, who are experts in the field, will guide you through the program in a practical environment using the latest industry vendor programs, such as Microsoft Technical Associate (MTA), VM Ware, Red Hat Linux, Microsoft (MCP) and Cisco (CCNA). This course has strong industry connections and an industry based work placement program is available to develop business skills and networking opportunities. This nationally recognised qualification may lead to employment in network, systems or PC support roles in small to medium business environments.
